women-specific health and fitness coaching |
My WhyBack in early 2000's I poured myself into a daily yoga practice to help heal from a heartbreak that left me feeling incredibly insecure and unworthy. I had been a long distance runner for years previously but this was when I first learned how important the connection of body movement is for our mental health and for healing. It has continued to be the biggest driving factor for why I've continued a daily exercise practice ever since.
About six years ago chatting with my girlfriends, many of whom were entering their 40's, I started to realize just how many insecurities and pressures we were all feeling as women beginning to age in a society that favors youth and is constantly bombarding us with anti-aging "remedies". This made me so sad because I know as much as we tell ourselves these pressures don't matter, they do. They've been ingrained in us our whole lives. Through the years I've exercised for a million reasons but really I exercise because its been the most positive constant in my life. It gives us the confidence to take up space in a society always trying to convince us women to get smaller. This was "my why" of why I began teaching and this is "my why" for why I have begun coaching. My goal has always been to uplift women in the best way I have known how. |
