Pilates, Yoga, & Barre
with Celia Willson
PilatesI began taking Pilates classes in 2019 and immediately knew that this form of resistance training was what my body had been desperately needing. Over the course of two years, I completed the contemporary STOTT Pilates Intensive trainings with Holly Ferguson at Blue Sparrow Pilates in San Francisco and Amanda Rice Fletcher at Conscious Education in Denver. I became officially certified through STOTT Pilates in 2022 as a Level 1 teacher and in 2023 as a Level 2 teacher. This certification includes the beginning, intermediate and advanced trainings in Matwork, Reformer, Chair, Cadillac and Barrels as well as the Injuries and Special Populations training. I have additionally completed the STOTT Pilates courses: Zenga V2Vinyasa with Amanda Rice Fletcher, Anatomy for Pilates Instructors with Holly Ferguson, Athletic Reformer with John Garey, and Flexion Free with Laura Bovenkerk. In 2024 I completed Cheri Cohen's Classical Pilates training in Eureka through the advanced trainings in all equipment including the addition of the Baby Arm Chair, the Ped-o-pul and the Electric Chair. In 2025 I completed both the one-on-one advanced classical reformer and Cadillac trainings with Nicole Smith through Core Love Culture in Philadelphia as well as the Arm-Back Connection and How to Run a Joe's Gym workshops with Leslie Logan. Additionally, I am a certified Barre instructor, completing the certification through American Barre Technique.
"Change happens through movement, and movement heals." |
YogaMy love of movement began back in 2003 when I was first introduced to yoga while living in Hawaii. I immediately experienced the immense physical and healing benefits of the practice while attending classes daily at the yoga studio I had started working at. In 2018, I completed the 200 hour Anusara yoga teacher training with Peggy Profant and Samantha Akers in Arcata, followed closely by both the advanced 100 hour Bhakti/Urban Flow training with Rusty Wells in San Francisco and the advanced 300 hour TheraYoga Method training studying under Samantha Akers in Arcata. This training applied the therapeutic lens through yoga for special conditions, fascial fitness, biomechanics, anatomy, cognitive yoga, back health, breath work, engaged yin, restorative yoga and meditation. I completed the Understanding Trauma, Resilience & How Yoga Heals training taught by Alison Scola working specifically with the autonomic nervous system and became certified in Yoga Nidra through Liz Heffernan, both trainings were led through the Soma Yoga Institute. In early 2023, I completed Flow School with Bonnie Weeks in Portland, Oregon. This intensive training focused on fun and creative movement, building an impactful experience in the room, and how to design and weave together intelligent and interesting sequencing. I started off 2024 completing Janet Stone's Begin Again training with 40 days of practice immersion followed by Seane Corn's Yoga and Transformational Inner Work. This work is a deep dive into the psycho/somatic experience through asanas, pranayamas, shadow work, energetic anatomy, meditation, yoga philosophy and spiritual practices to help reshape how our past experiences influence us now. I have additionally taken over 70 hours in yoga workshops led by International yoga instructors.
I teach alignment based classes and believe that by safely and consistently incorporating yoga and Pilates into our lives, we will truly experience improvements in health, gain strength as well as happiness, and move through our days with more ease. When we find exercise that we enjoy, that is fun and that feels good, it becomes easy to prioritize. I want to help you find a love for daily movement and success in your goals.
